Requirements
What IRCC checks for every visitor visa
Officers assess six core areas. A weak answer on any one of them can result in a refusal — even if you have a genuine reason to visit.
Valid passport
You must hold a valid passport or travel document for the duration of your intended stay in Canada.
Purpose of travel
You must clearly demonstrate a genuine reason for your visit — tourism, family visit, business meeting, or event attendance.
Financial support
You must show sufficient funds to cover your trip — bank statements, employment letters, and tax returns that prove your financial stability.
Ties to home country
You must demonstrate stable commitments back home — employment, property, family responsibilities — that require your return.
Admissibility
You must have no criminal inadmissibility. A medical examination may also be required based on your country of residence or length of stay.
Intent to return
You must prove that you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay. Officers look for evidence you have reasons to go back.
